Enhanced single-nanoparticle collisions for the hydrogen evolution reaction in a confined microchannel

چکیده

Single nanoparticle (NP) collisions technique has been widely employed in electrocatalysis. However, the short collision duration of single NPs hinders further improvement their electrocatalytic performance. Here, to increase dynamic electron tunneling region, enhanced near-wall hindered diffusion is introduced stochastic process by coupling a Au ultramicroelectrode (UME) with confined microchannel. In case palladium (Pd NP) for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), hydrodynamic trapping microchannel effectively permits activation HER on Pd NPs. The microchannel-based UME promising application single-NP energy conversion.

Application of Pd-Substituted Ni-Al Layered Double Hydroxides for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Clean production of hydrogen from electrochemical water splitting has been known as a green method of fuel production. In this work, electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was investigated at new prepared layered double hydroxides (LDH) in acidic solution. NiAl/carbon black (CB) LDH was monitored using x-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, scannin...

In situ activation of a Ni catalyst with Mo ion for hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline solution

In this study Ni catalyst have been activated during hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by adding Mo ions into the alkaline electrolyte. After dissolving different amounts of ammonium molybdate in the 1M NaOH as electrolyte, Ni catalyst was used as cathode for HER. Afterwards a comparison between hydrogen overpotential measured in Ni catalyst with and without in situ activation has been made; th...

A New Core/Shell NiAu/Au Nanoparticle Catalyst with Pt-like Activity for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction.

We report a general approach to NiAu alloy nanoparticles (NPs) by co-reduction of Ni(acac)2 (acac = acetylacetonate) and HAuCl4·3H2O at 220 °C in the presence of oleylamine and oleic acid. Subject to potential cycling between 0.6 and 1.0 V (vs reversible hydrogen electrode) in 0.5 M H2SO4, the NiAu NPs are transformed into core/shell NiAu/Au NPs that show much enhanced catalysis for hydrogen ev...

Dynamic traction of lattice-confined platinum atoms into mesoporous carbon matrix for hydrogen evolution reaction

Constructing atomically dispersed platinum (Pt) electrocatalysts is essential to build high-performance and cost-effective electrochemical water-splitting systems. We present a novel strategy to realize the traction and stabilization of isolated Pt atoms in the nitrogen-containing porous carbon matrix (Pt@PCM). In comparison with the commercial Pt/C catalyst (20 weight %), the as-prepared Pt@PC...

Porous metallic MoO2-supported MoS2 nanosheets for enhanced electrocatalytic activity in the hydrogen evolution reaction.

Advanced materials for electrocatalytic water splitting are central to renewable energy research. In this work, MoS2 nanosheets supported on porous metallic MoO2 (MoS2/MoO2) were produced by sulfuration treatments of porous and highly conductive MoO2 for the hydrogen evolution reaction. Porous MoO2 with one-dimensional channel-like structures was prepared by calcination at elevated temperatures...
